Farm Visits, Events, Activities

A Farm Visit at Rosebud Llamas is a specially designed outing, tailored to meet the needs and desires of the visiting group. The idea originated in 1998 with Active Re-Entry, an independent living center for people with disabilities with facilities in Price and Vernal, Utah. The Executive Director wanted to give  Active Re-Entry consumers a unique experience involving enjoying the outdoors while learning about and spending time with llamas. We put together an activity of about four hours that included basic information about llamas, time spent with the llamas, and a nutritious lunch at our picnic tables. Everyone's favorites were feeding treats to the llamas and taking them for short walks.
After that, we welcomed various groups--from families to groups of 30--for three- to four-hour  interactive, educational experiences with our llamas. Besides consumers from Active Re-Entry, the llamas have welcomed the staff and volunteers of a non-profit organization celebrating the end of a State Legislative Session, a group of survivors of a World War II German POW camp having their annual get-together, groups from four to 20 fulfilling school course requirements from a Salt Lake Montessori School, and 17 children and their 10 adult companions from a community center for the deaf and hard of hearing.

Standard Farm Visit. A three- to four-hour, on-site activity, including educational presentations on your choice of llama-related topics and time interacting with the llamas. We can propose a good mix of presentation topics we've found have been enjoyed by previous groups, including for example, llama uses, origins and history, behavior, and so on. (See Camelids 101 on "Clinics and Consultation" page.) The llamas are always happy to be fed treats and visitors can take them on short walks around the farm. Prices: Adults $20, children up to 13 $15. (Minimum of four participants.)

We are open to your ideas. We've made a lot of adaptations to meet the needs of various groups. If you or your group or organization has an idea for a farm visit that looks different from what we've described, please email or call us and tell us what you're thinking. We and the llamas are all quite flexible. There's no end to the possibilities for pleasurable experiences when llamas and great outdoor settings are involved. We're excited to see what new twists Oregonian groups come up with!

Please call for special rates for organizations serving low-income groups.

Our barn, corrals, and picnic facilities are wheelchair accessible.

Prices subject to change.
